You are absolutely right in principle, but the fact is that it is incredibly hard to break the addiction to govt. that we are all born into. It was seriously painful to read those long lists of things that we all take for granted that the govt. has the right to be involved with and feel that automatic programmed reaction of "but what would we do without ___?". We need a lot of planning to be able to turn this mess around, even minimally.
They’ve been boiling the frogs/feeding the pigs for more than a century. It’s going to take a lot of time to reverse course. I don’t see any major positive changes coming in my lifetime.
But I think we at least need to state plainly and openly what the ultimate goals are. Otherwise, how will we ever know where we should be headed or if we’re getting closer to those ends?
Some people contend we should hide the full truth to make it more “compatible.” I disagree.
