Government's Purpose
People properly establish a government for one and only one fundamental reason. Anything a government does outside of that purpose is a lie and a violation of our rights.
There is one and only one proper purpose of a government:
TO PROTECT OUR RIGHTS.
The function of a legitimate government is NOT to:
protect us
keep us “safe”
“solve” all our problems
“save” us from ourselves
steal from one group of individuals and give that money to other individuals
“take care of us”
make our decisions for us
enforce a code of morality
intrude into every nook and cranny of society
be the world’s police force
A just government must NEVER initiate force against its citizens. It must always act as our agent, not our master. Police, military, courts: that’s all. Any interference beyond that violates our rights. Protecting our property rights according to objective law is necessary for a free society to flourish.
People have the right to make the wrong (or right) (peaceful) decisions and to act on those choices without permission.
Thanks,Russell. My Kindle didn't have Freedom as if it mattered ,so I must have bought the Trade Paperback version, in any event, I re-bought the Kindle edition for $6.99, a great value,as I will frequently refer to it to get your take on many recent issues. Keep up the good work!
Good read Russ!
